If you run a website and want to provide a good experience for visitors, one of the most important factors is site health.
Bad site health is detrimental to traffic.
In fact, the probability of bounce increases 32% as page load time goes from 1 second to 3 seconds.
There are a number of factors that go into having a quality website. These range from site architecture to the quality of your content and more.
Given the importance of providing your visitors a great experience, I figured it was about time I put some work into my own website.
Here’s what I’ve done so far.
First, I set up basic measurement tools and plugins.
- Google Search Console
- Google Analytics
- AIOSEO
- Monster Insights
- 301 Redirects
- Generate and upload a sitemap to Google Search Console

Next, I took note of a few indexing issues. Here’s what I discovered.
- Discrepancies between the sitemap and indexed pages
- A few page indexing issues
- Some irrelevant images from my site were showing up in the SERPs

Lastly I finished with resolving a couple of the issues.
- Uninstall useless plugins to decrease loading speed
- Fixed an indexing issue with a 301 redirect

What I’m doing next week.
Next week, my focus is going to be on continuing to fix Google Search Console indexing issues.
I’m also going to be taking a look at the site architecture. This will including checking pagination, redirect chains, breadcrumbs, and more.
